What cookies we use

ExactMaterials sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. The cookies that may be placed on your device come from Google Analytics. The site shows no ads today and has no consent banner, so in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, where consent is required, no analytics cookies are set either.

Categories

Strictly necessary. None are set by us. Cloudflare may set a security cookie to protect the site from abuse. These cannot be switched off.

Local storage (not a cookie). We store the last values you typed into a calculator in your browser's localStorage, under keys beginning with em:. This never leaves your device and is not readable by us or by any third party. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Analytics. Google Analytics 4 sets _ga and _ga_<container-id>, which expire after 2 years and distinguish one visitor from another without identifying you. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they are not set, because consent is required there and the site does not ask for it while it shows no ads; elsewhere they are set by default.

Advertising. No ads are shown on the site today, so no advertising cookies are set. Once ads run, Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies such as IDE, test_cookie, __gads and __gpi, with lifetimes from a few minutes to 13 months, used to serve, cap and measure advertising. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they would only be set after you consent to advertising storage in a consent banner; elsewhere they would be set by default. If you declined, ads would still be shown but would be non-personalised.

Consent record. None today: there is no consent management platform while no ads are shown. Once ads run, it will store your choice so you are not asked again on every page.

Web beacons (pixels). Google Analytics and Google's advertising also use web beacons, sometimes called pixel tags or pings: small requests that tell Google a page, an event or, once ads run, an ad was seen. Nothing is stored on your device by the beacon itself, but each request carries your IP address and browser details, as any request on the internet does. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's tag reads and writes no analytics cookies and sends only cookieless pings.

How to change your mind

There is no consent panel today, because the site asks for no consent while it shows no ads. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; the calculators will continue to work normally. Once ads run, a "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page will reopen the consent panel so you can change or withdraw your choice.
