Who we are
ExactMaterials ("we", "us", "the Site") is operated by Liviu Iulian Taune, based in Tutova, Romania. You can reach us at hello@exactmaterials.com.
Because we are established in the European Union, this policy is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive, and it also covers the rights of visitors in US states with privacy laws such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia.
The short version
We do not ask you to register. We do not collect your name, your address or your project details. The measurements and prices you type into a calculator stay in your browser and are never sent to us. What we do have is traffic statistics from Google Analytics, including the eight calculator events listed below, and, when ads run, Google's advertising, both of which work through cookies, web beacons and your IP address — and you control the cookies.
What we collect and why
Calculator inputs. Room dimensions, material sizes, prices and the other
values you enter are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript, and the
measurements and prices are not transmitted to any server. Three of your choices do go to
Google Analytics, with the events listed below: the laying pattern, the unit system and, if
you type your own, the waste percentage. If your browser allows it, the last set of values
is stored locally on your own device (in localStorage) so the tool remembers
them next time. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings. We cannot
read this data.
The calculator also writes your values into the page address, after the # sign, so that a copied link brings the estimate back. Browsers do not send that part of an address to the server, and Google Analytics records the page address without it.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are used and how people find us. It records information such as the pages you view, the approximate region you connect from, your device type and your referring source. It works through a script and web beacons — small requests, sometimes called pixels or pings, that report a page view or an event to Google — and, like any request on the internet, each one carries your IP address; Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off: the law there requires consent, and the site has no consent banner while it shows no ads, so it never asks. The tag still sends cookieless pings, which Google describes as carrying a timestamp, your browser's user agent, the referring page, the consent state and a random number generated on each page load.
Calculator events. Besides page views, the site sends Google Analytics eight events of its own, under the same consent settings. This is each one and everything it records. None carries a measurement or a price.

waste_overridden, when the figure in the waste box changes: which calculator, the percentage that was in the box before (0 if it was empty) and the new one. -

guide_cta_click, when you follow a guide’s button to its calculator: the guide and the calculator.
Advertising. The site is built to carry ads from Google AdSense, and none are shown yet. Once they are, Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons (also called pixel tags) and similar technologies, together with your IP address, to serve and measure advertising.
Email. If you write to us, the address you send from and the content of your message arrive directly in our email inbox so that we can reply. There is no contact form on this site, and no third party handles that message. We keep that correspondence for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for up to 24 months afterwards.
Server logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records standard request logs including IP address and user agent for security and abuse prevention. These are held by Cloudflare under its own retention policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
Google AdSense and advertising cookies
This section applies once ads run on the site. None are shown today.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
Alongside cookies, Google's advertising uses web beacons, also called pixel tags: small requests that record that an ad was shown or clicked. Google says pixel tags can perform the same function as cookies, and that it may use your IP address to identify your general location and to measure the effectiveness of ads. Every one of those requests goes to Google, not to us.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at https://optout.aboutads.info.
Where required by law, we ask for your consent before any advertising cookie is set, through a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. If you do not consent, we still show ads, but they are non-personalised: they are based only on the content of the page you are reading and your approximate location, not on a profile of you.
How long we keep data
Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months. Contact correspondence is kept for up to 24 months. Server logs follow Cloudflare's retention schedule. Data in your own browser stays there until you clear it.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to withdraw any consent you give. Today the site asks for none: in those countries analytics cookies stay off and no ads are shown. Once ads run, a "Cookie settings" link in our footer will let you change your choice.
If you are in a US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of targeted advertising and of any sale or sharing of personal information. The site shows no ads today, so there is no targeted advertising to opt out of; once ads run, the "Cookie settings" link in our footer will carry the advertising opt-out. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
To exercise any right, write to hello@exactmaterials.com. We respond within 30 days. If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you may lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. In Romania this is the Autoritatea Naţională de Supraveghere a Prelucrării Datelor cu Caracter Personal (ANSPDCP).
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Some of our providers are established in the United States. Transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced on this page.
